Rayvin Black (John) with Barwick (Butch) going out along Rayes Lane

A bit cooler morning as the breeze has got up considerabley. We had a real red sky first lot and this usually indicates something is on the way, but as I have predicting this for the last three weeks it must just be an old wives' tale. I did some very good work with the hurdlers this morning on Long Hill and could not be more pleased with how they all went. If the ground is right we shall be having a few runners in the next week or two.

Marvo (Hannah)

We have one runner on Sunday, Astrolibra, who runs at Leicester in the two mile handicap hurdle at 3.45.
She looks a picture at present with a great shiney coat that looks like a seal's. I think the ground should suit and a good run is expected.

Ron (Lee)

It's the Japan Cup tomorrow morning live on At the Races at 6.20, and well worth getting out of bed to watch. The Arc winner Danetime runs and this nine thousand euro buy will be trying to win some more yen for her Japanese part owner. She has plenty on her plate as it looks quite a warm race, as it should be for the money. It is worth over £2 million to the winner and let's hope she can do it for Europe.

The Guv'nor watching the horses

Congratulations to the winner of the on-line Five to Follow competition. This year it is Mr. Derek Walsh, who had four winners. Mr. Walsh has won a share in one of the syndicate horses for a year. He will be shortly be offered the the opportunity to choose the horse with which he would like to be involved, and I am sure he will get a lot of fun and enjoyment.

Carol - still sweeping leaves

It's the last day of the foal sales today before moving on to the mares next week. The average has gone up 15%, but as I said yesterday it was due to a considerable amount of purchasers buying to race rather than to speculate. I think trade next week for the mares will be just as strong and maybe even more so and more international.
