"All I can say about life is, oh God, enjoy it!"

Dine Out

A cold but very still morning - we have had a little overnight rain and it looks as if East Anglia has once again missed the large band which has swept across the country. We have had a very good morning so far with first lot doing two good healthy canters on Bury Side. There were plenty of trainers and visitors about which tends to be the case during December Sales fortnight and there was plenty of banter going backwards and forwards.

Angie went to Garrowby yesterday to have a good look round at everything and, as you can see from the pictures,  she was highly delighted. Alan and Tina together with Rachel are a great team and do a top class job. The horses always look very well, are relaxed and come back to me in great shape. There really is a mixture of horses there at the moment with mares in foal, weanlings and horses out of training. They have to be kept in seperate areas on the stud. This is the busiest time of year when they have the most number of horses up there. It works fantastically well in conjunction with Dullingham and, as I have said before, it is the old fashioned but very successful way of foaling them in Newmarket and rearing them in Yorkshire.

The winners of tomorrow below

An amazing day at the sales yesterday with four millionaire mares the top price being £2,400,000 for one in foal to Galileo. Most of this money is from overseas and, as I said yesterday, these international buyers  go mad for the British breeding blood. The government should take note of this and realise that if they looked after this industry it would boom and they would benefit greatly from the tax income, but they need to realise this quickly and get legislation in place that would boost the prize money making it much more attractive to own and race horses. This way our bloodstock would be even better.
