"Character may almost be called the most effective means of persuasion."

Shomberg leads up  the Warren Hill polytrack

We have had a busy morning as I am beginning to really increase the workload on the horses now. Faster work will start in early March but I am doing plenty of cantering to get them well prepared for what is to come. It’s still on the cool side early in the mornings, but no rain is expected all week and it is beginning to get on everybody’s minds that we are becoming desperate for some. The Heath manager is even thinking that it has happened because he has arrived and that maybe somebody up there is trying to test him. I have assured him that once it starts raining it may never stop as there is a lot to catch up on.

We have two runners today at Lingfield. Chankillo runs in the 2:10 – the mile and a quarter handicap. It is not the best of draws once again but I have a good apprentice on him in John Fahy; although he looked a bit one paced last time, I think it was being in the wrong place syndrome rather than anything else. I hope he can redeem himself today. Cotton Grass runs in the two miler at 3:10. This looks a competitive sort of contest but again we are drawn out with the washing.  There are only a few runners and I am hopeful of her getting the trip and running well.

We still have several horses for sale or lease and some syndicate shares that we have not filled and as the season is nearly upon us, anybody who is interested ought to give me a ring and come and have a look at them. They are all going very well and plenty of excitement will be had with them this coming season. The other good thing is that they won't break the bank.
