Some visitors from The City

It is another calm morning and thankfully not too cold. We have taken the first lot down to the Al Bahathri and are just starting to do some stronger work with them. A few visitors came to the yard this morning, Conrad Lockey was there as normal but Ray White and friend Paul made the trip up from London, and got here in time to see Rayvin Black do a good half speed with Barwick. After having a good hearty breakfast and a photo call, with the aid of a few packets of polo’s to keep his horses attention, they both headed back to work in good spirits. All the horses moved very well and are on the road to full fitness.

With the prize money as it is at the moment, and the government seeming to take so long to help us find a proper solution, it was great to see the Horsemens’ Group putting a £5000 bonus onto ninety six races starting next month. This cash is coming out of the group’s development fund, and will be raced for on Horsemens’ Group “partner” racecourses. These are those that have kept to the tariffs. Seventy percent of the bonus goes to the owner, with the rest going to the trainer, jockey and stable staff. In these hard times it is a very good initiative.

The foals continue to thrive at Dullingham as you can see from the pictures below. We have been helped by the weather in this respect as they have not got too cold and wet. It is amazing how quickly they come around each year and we are already covering the mares that had the early foals. Most of our maiden mares have been covered and are tested in foal, including Brushing who is in foal to Authorized.

I was rather chuffed with these photographs below of the ducks in the yard at Dullingham. Every year we get a few that come over from The Deer Park side and nest in the main stable yard. I think I should be entering the Countryfile photo competition!
