Barwick leads Locum, Comrade Bond and Sleigh Bells

It’s a lovely morning at present but the forecast is for it to get really horrendous with hailstorms, hurricanes and inches of rain. At least we have been able to do a couple of canters on the Warren Hill polytrack, however. I talked at Alan at Garrowby early this morning and he said it’s lashing down there and blowing a gale.

It was one of those days yesterday at Yarmouth. We were delighted with Old Boy Ted who looked as though he has eventually started to get the idea and should be winning soon, especially on easier ground. Both Cotton Grass and Like Clockwork may both need a bit shorter than yesterday’s trips. In each case it looked just too far for them.

Jennifer J was very unlucky – she should have won but did not get the clearest of runs.

Today we have a couple of runners at York. At the time of writing I cannot be too sure what the ground is going to be like but, if Alan’s forecast is anything to go by, it will be very much on the soft side. I have got Smokey Oakey in good order. He runs in the 1m 6f handicap at 3.05 with a low weight and I am hopeful of a very good run. Battery Power goes in the 1m 4f apprentice race at 5.15. She caught a tartar at Doncaster on Saturday and I am going to the well again quite quickly but she likes the ground, I think the course should suit her and, all things being equal, she should be in the shake-up today.
