Mystery Star brings up Comrade Bond and Blimey O'Riley

A very still morning with no wind at all, plenty of sunshine, and it’s one of those perfect days so far. It was pretty quiet on the Heath at first lot as many people had worked their horses yesterday. We had a canter up Warren Hill and a good pick of grass on Long Hill. Everybody, both horses and staff were very relaxed. Just the way I like it.

What a racehorse we saw yesterday at Ascot. Frankel was absolutely outstanding and confirmed his status as the number one horse in the world. I have seen plenty of good horses in my time but I think this is by far and away the best. It was effortless and, under no pressure at all, he won a Group One by eleven lengths. I just hope I have a mare owner willing to stump up the nomination money needed to use him at stud. It was great for racing and for Newmarket. We will now be able to enjoy watching him for the rest of the season.

It was great to see our owners Kenneth and Janis MacPherson having a winner at Ascot yesterday with Hototo in the Windsor Castle Stakes. Kenneth said it was great to have a runner, let alone a winner. His best at the meeting previously was with us when Steenberg was beaten a neck in the Jersey Stakes a few years ago.
