A healthy morning’s work but a muggy start

An overcast start to the day but very warm and the horses have been going out at exercise without any sheets on. A few showers are forecast but as yet none has arrived. We did a good healthy canter for all the Flint Cottage inmates this morning and they all still look in very good order.

Rayvin Black

Rayvin Black is running at Chester on Saturday

It was a long way to go yesterday to Carlisle for a disappointing day, but I have done it before and I’m sure I will do it again. Barwick was too far back early on to get involved, which was very disappointing, and Smokey Oakey certainly didn’t see the trip out on that ground. Like Clockwork had very little chance from his draw, but saying that he didn’t handle the track at all and a few hefty bumps from the opposition didn’t help. Things can only get better.

My Guardian Angel brings up Chankillo

My Guardian Angel runs at Chester tomorrow

We have three runners today - all at Yarmouth which is amazingly still good to firm and looks to have missed all the rain that we have been having. We start with Likelikelikelikeit in the six furlong maiden at 2:20. She is certainly ready to have a run and is our first two-year-old runner of the year. There’s plenty of highly priced horses in this race though and it could be an above average contest. Our second runner is Comrade Bond at 4:20. He is a course and distance winner and although high enough in the weights he always seems to run well on this track and must do so once again.  Cotton Grass completes our trio at 5:50 and, if we forget her bad run last time, she must have a chance today. Yarmouth has always been a very lucky track for us - in fact I am leading trainer there so here’s hoping it can happen again.
