Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Eddie Ahern being jocked-up on Star Of Missouri

A very wet morning with steady rain, but as yet not as much as we have been forecast. The sky is still full though and it looks like it is set for the day. We took first lot over to Racecourse Side where the ground Across the Flat was absolutely perfect. There were very few people out and it was like having all of the training grounds to yourself. I put a couple of two-year-old colts through their paces this morning with Eddie  and they both went very nicely.

Thank you to Michael Harvey for supplying the photo above

Yesterday was a mixed day, but Locum and Eanans Bay both made the first four. Five Hearts pulled a bit too hard early on and we may have to dispense with the headgear next time. Likelikelikelikeit was a bit outclassed, but as I have said before I think that nursery handicaps will be more to her liking when she is getting weight, and  everybody has a chance.

It’s very disappointing that So You Think won’t be running in the Eclipse on Saturday. He has been a very interesting horse since he arrived in the Northern Hemisphere with his superstar status from down under. He will now be retired to stud to stand in Australia and hopefully shuttle back to Ireland to Coolmore. I am sure he will be a real hit as a stallion.

Marvo is entered at Lingfield on Wednesday

There is an interesting article in the Racing Post today about the waterlogging at Leicester Racecourse. The horse racing has been abandoned, but the musical entertainment will still go ahead. I am sure most of these racecourses would rather be a pop concert venue than a racecourse. We have only just got them to agree to the tariffs and no doubt they will make a good profit from the income of this event.
