"Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day."

With Tattersalls in the background, cantering up the Mactrac

An overcast morning with just a few spits of occasional rain, but there has been very little and already this morning Newmarket racecourse has changed its going from good, which was up on the BHA web-site overnight, to good to firm by 9.30.  If you are not on the ball and keep ckecking you can make a mistake and declare on unsuitable ground. This has already caused havoc this morning as along with horses being declared and then withdrawn we have had to inform the jockeys booked that they are not going to run. It's enough to drive Phil and I barmy. Most of the horses have had a couple of canters and the swimming pool has been kept busy too.

Barwick sets out

My Guardian Angel, Rayvin Black and Topamichi

We saw another great performance from Frankel yesterday at Goodwood although he had no competition which has been the story for most of his career. I think the only horse that made him half  change gear was Nathaniel when they met at Newmarket in their two-year-old days. I bet at the time John Gosden couldn't believe he had got beaten. Our best wishes go out to Henry Cecil who had to miss the trip to Goodwood, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Patriotic planting at Newmarket and Flint Cottage

Congratulations to our first  Olympic gold medallists,  record breakers in their own right and great examples of what can be achieved if you put your heart and soul into anything.
